Michael Damon has spent more than four decades helping individuals, families, and business owners navigate the financial decisions that matter most. With approximately 40 years of experience as a Certified Public Accountant and more than 30 years as a financial advisor, Mike brings a depth of perspective that is rare in any profession.
Mike’s path into financial services began with a love of accounting that took root during his first college course on the subject. After spending five years in public accounting at a firm in Wellesley, he opened his own CPA practice in 1986. That firm grew steadily over the years, built entirely on trust and relationships. His entry into financial advising came when a long-standing client asked him to manage retirement distributions and told him simply to get licensed. He did, and the advisory practice followed.
Tax-aware planning is at the core of everything Mike does. He believes that tax planning belongs in every financial conversation, from accumulation and distribution strategies to Roth accounts, tax-deferred vehicles, and timing decisions that can meaningfully affect a client’s long-term picture. That tax-first perspective, combined with decades of CPA work, gives Powder Point clients an integrated approach that many advisory firms are not positioned to offer.
Over the course of his career, Mike has built multi-generational client relationships spanning more than 35 years. He has worked with women-owned businesses, construction companies, executives, and families navigating business succession, retirement transitions, and the complexities of transferring wealth to the next generation. He currently serves clients across four generations, a reflection of the long-term trust the firm has earned.
Mike founded Powder Point Wealth Management and named the firm for the Powder Point Bridge in Duxbury, a landmark that reflects his belief in helping clients connect the many parts of their financial lives with care and clarity. His vision for the firm extends well beyond his own career. He is actively committed to mentoring the next generation of advisors and building a practice that will continue to serve South Shore families for decades to come.
